Sullivant Update – August 2010

Dear Partners in Missions,

My how time flies! The last two months have been busy on several fronts which I shall try to explain in this letter.
At the end of July, the Church we are attending and helping at, held a revival with a Thai pastor, Santisuk, coming to speak for the services. We passed out flyers in the surrounding neighborhoods and the area around the Student Center, inviting people to come to the revival. We praise the Lord that there were visitors each service and two people made professions of faith! Aam had been attending some of the Sunday AM services intermittently for about a little over a month and following the Sunday AM service, he trusted Christ as his Saviour.
Lee is an 18year old, first-year student at the University where we have the student center. She had been to a different church before, but no one took the time to talk to her about the Lord and salvation. Following the first service of the revival, one of the ladies in the Church talked to her and was able to explain Who Jesus is and she bowed her head and made a profession of faith. She has been to almost all of the services since that time and seems to be very tender to the things of the Lord.
In August we began to distribute the Newsletters regarding “Truth.” This month the question is, “Is There a God?” Next month’s edition (October) will deal with the importance of the Bible. Please pray that these letters would be well received, read, and would stir the soul of those who do not yet know our God of Truth.

The student center is in full-swing now. We have about 10-12 students who we are helping with their English in the evenings. Please pray that these students would
continue to come and that we would have the right words to say when we witness to them. We have been able to witness to most of them already, but for most of them
salvation, Heaven, and hell are still completely foreign ideas. There are several who have asked questions of their own and are open to further discussions as well.
We have extended our visa through a non-profit here in Thailand, which allows us to continue to work and study here for the next year. The agency that controls the
issuing of missionary visas is scheduled to make their decision regarding our application at their monthly meeting in October. Please pray that they will reward my
three trips to their office in Bangkok (700 km one way) with a missionary visa.
As a family, we are doing well. Maureen is studying in the Bible module at the language school; this will probably be her last module of regular study as she is
finding her time to be at a premium right now. Please pray that she would have strength and wisdom in both her language studies and her home schooling of the children.
Jessica and Wayne are in the thick of their school year. Jessica enjoys her school very much and is very diligent in getting her homework done. Wayne is learning all the exceptions to the rules of phonics and this is very distressing to him☺! He is learning to deal with it but is questioning why his mother would teach him one thing and then tell him to do it differently! Wyatt is beginning to show some interest in school. He spends a lot of time coloring his alphabet pages. Charity is on the verge of walking. She is the first of our babies to crawl before they walked. I will try to get an updated picture for everyone in the next prayer letter.
Thank you again for your prayers for us. If you could continue to pray for:
Our missionary visa;
• Our languages studies;
• Wisdom and guidance as we seek God’s will regarding which city
to go to plant a church;
• The Newsletter distribution to be used of the Lord to open hearts to salvation;
• The students at the Center to trust Christ as Saviour.
Thank you for your faithful financial support and prayers. We appreciate them very much and do not take
your financial support for granted either. We pray for you as well as Paul prayed for the Church of Philippi.
For His Glory,
Michael Sullivant, Jr. and family.
