Our God is Great!
Jeremiah 32:17 Ah Lord GOD! behold, thou hast made the heaven and the earth by thy great power and stretched out arm, and there is nothing too hard for thee:
Do you ever get complacent about God? After all, He is eternal and sometimes it seems that He is just not in a hurry! And because He is not in a hurry, we can start to think that He is not working. Well, this last week we found out how quickly God can move when He wants to.
Last Sunday afternoon a few of us looked at a church building that was for sale. We went more out of nostalgia than anything, for it used to be the Independent Baptist Church in town. Then the fun began. In the space of 48 hours, God enabled us to purchase a church building and lot. Last Wednesday night the members of Lakeside voted unanimously to purchase the property. At this time we anticipate taking possession of the property on April 15, 2009.
There is more. We have been praying for Vernon Brown’s house to sell. After weeks on the market and not a single offer, last night God sold their house also!
There is still more. We have been praying for Mrs. Hiebert. This week she found out that her suspected cancer was only gallstones. A definite answer to prayer!
There is still more yet. We have been praying for Mrs. Sihvo, Nina’s mother. During exploratory surgery this week, the doctors discovered no cancer. Another definite answer to prayer!
There will be more in the future. As a church, we are only beginning to experience the miraculous might of the Omnipotent God. As we learn to seek His face continually in prayer, and to delight ourselves in Him, God will be able to bless us more. I am convinced that the blessings of this week are due in part to our stepping out by faith in the matter of missions giving. If God can bless such tiny faith this, what could He do if we REALLY learn to walk by faith?
My friends, I am humbled by the greatness of our God. In our own strength we could never make this happen but there is NOTHING too hard for God!
Jeremiah 32:27 Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh: is there any thing too hard for me?
