It would have been nice to be there that day. To see the Saviour born and began his life. The holiday season is a great time to see this day again. Have a Merry Christmas this year and remember this great day.

I got a car about a month ago. It is a 1994 Toyota Corolla. It is a great car. Thank you for praying for me.

In the print shop we are getting the John & Romans ready to go to the post office. They will be shipped to Moose Jaw in Saskatchewan. We have to put them in rubber bands in twenties and then pack them in the box by three hundreds. Pray for these John & Romans that God will use them here in Canada.

I will be having my knee replaced in February. Pray for me as I have this surgery.
Thank you for supporting me this year. I am looking forward to the next one.

I wanted to take this opportunity to write you and thank you for your faithful prayer and financial support for our ministry here in Maple. Without a doubt, we feel
extremely blessed to be a part of your missionary family.

About a year ago, Pastor Robert Wall approached me and asked me to prayerfully consider ministering at FaithWay Baptist Church and FaithWay Baptist College.
I told Dr. Wall at that time that I would seek the Lord’s leading in the matter.
After much prayer and talking with our sending pastor, Gordon Conner, as well
as seeking counsel from several other godly men, we believe the Lord is changing
the direction of our ministry. We have accepted the position offered us at FaithWay
Baptist Church and College. We would ask that you partner with us and pray for this
transition. We have no intention of closing New Life Baptist Church in Maple.
We will continue pastoring this fine nucleus of people until the Lord directs a new man
to take over the work. Soul winning teams from FaithWay will work with us each week. Through your faithful prayer and financial support, several people have been saved already and a core group of people have been established. We pray this number will grow as God gives the increase.

We would be grateful to you if you would continue your support through this transition period and then prayerfully consider continuing the support of New Life Baptist Church. Our people are able to cover some of the expenses but not all of them. We are supporting three missionaries and want to continue doing so. God has been good and has met all of our needs.

If you have any questions, please to not hesitate to call me. You may also contact Pastor Gordon Conner (604-874-7400), or Pastor Robert Wall (905-686-0951).

Thank you again for your faithful support and friendship.
Serving the Lord,
Pastor David Wiebe

Please forgive me for the lateness of this annual letter and report. Just after Christmas I “caught” the flu from my grandchildren, and I have been very sick. This is the worst I have felt since the one session of chemo back in January 2010. The doctor said I developed a “pocket of pneumonia” in my right lung where the scar tissue is from the cancer surgeries. I am home and doing better. I still have a cough that I cannot seem to kick, but it is less persistent each day.

This past year was a great year for our ministry. We helped eight new churches get started across the United States and Canada. This is the seventh year we have had eight or more church plants in one year. The most was in 2009 when we helped thirteen new churches get started. The churches we have helped plant during our ministry will give well over two million to missions in 2013.

We began our 20th year of ministry in August. We are planning an anniversary gathering at Liberty Baptist Church in Toledo, Ohio, on June 17-19. We are going to host our first BCPM Golf Tournament on the 18th, and we are praying every church will be involved. We would like for churches to either bring a foursome to represent their church or sponsor a hole for the event if they cannot send a team. We want to raise $20,000 for the ministry in honor of the twenty years helping churches reproduce churches. Along with the tournament will be services, and hopefully many pastors of churches we have helped start will be there. We will have more information each month leading up to the meeting, but please mark the dates on your calendar.

If you have invested in BCPM during 2012, you should receive an account statement indicating the amount given. Please look it over carefully, and if there are differences from your records, please contact Mrs. Graves at secretary@bcpm.org, and she will be sure work out any concerns. Please remember that if you sent in an investment near the end of the year, it may have been received in the following year.

We are already working on nine church plants for 2013, and there may be more to follow. Please pray for these church plants which will be in Canada, the United States and also in Portugal. We will keep you informed as to how things are progressing and when the meetings will be held.

Some of you invest in BCPM through one of our staff members, and we are so thankful that you do. The Lord has given us a wonderful staff, and we are so thankful for how the Lord has brought us together. Thank you so much for laboring together with us in reaching this continent and the world with the Gospel.

Several have asked about the follow-up on the tumors which were removed in December. So far I have not heard a word. I guess “no news is good news” regarding this, but I will give the doctor a call soon. I have a full body CT scheduled for the 16th, and I will know something by the first of February. Thank you so much for praying for me.

Thank you for your investment in our ministry through prayer and finances. We could not do this without you. You are an integral part of BCPM, and we pray for God’s blessing upon you as you serve Him.

Dear Pastor and Praying Friends,

“The LORD hath done great things for us; whereof we are glad. “Psalms 126:3

As we look back over the past year, we are amazed at all that God has done for us and we look to the New Year with excitement at all that God will do in our life and ministry. Our prayer is that each of you are able to look back over the last year and rejoice in the “great things” God has done! We serve such an amazing and wonderful God and we count it a joy to partner with you in reaching South Africa with the Gospel.

November was a busy month for us as we prepared for our Leadership Training Course ,put together last minute preparations for furlough as well as carried on with the everyday life and ministry. The course was held December 3rd -8th and the theme was “ Communicating to Lead”. We focused on how to communicate with others (i.e. pastor, parents, authorities) as well as communicating with the lost. We had 29 people ranging in age from 15-27 and representing 3 different nationalities attend the course. It is always a blessing to me to see how God continues to overcome Satan’s attempts to hinder the work of the Lord, and to use the preaching and teaching of His Word to open the eyes and hearts of those who are willing to hear. It was a great week and many decisions and commitments to the Lord were made throughout the course.

We departed South Africa on the 10th of December with mixed emotions. We were excited about seeing our friends and family, yet, sad to be saying goodbye to the people we have grown to love during the last 4 years. All of our flights went very well with few delays and not one piece of luggage lost! We were able to spend the Christmas holiday visiting in Colorado with my wife’s parents. Titus and Tanner prayed for snow and God answered! They had a great time sledding and building a snowman for the very first time.

After Christmas, we flew to our home church in Kelowna, BC. What a blessing to return and fellowship with our church family and Pastor. We will have a very busy schedule in the next few months. The month of January we will be travelling throughout British Columbia reporting to many of our supporting churches. We would appreciate your prayers for safety as we travel and that God would use these meetings to encourage Christians to continue on in the work of the Lord

***************

Prayer Requests:

Furlough:

¨Finances for travel expenses

¨Safety and health of family

¨Raise additional support

Ministry:

¨Wisdom and strength

¨More workers for ministry

¨Bill Smith and family as they fill in during our absence

I just returned home from the surgery to remove tumors attached to the prostate. Thank you so much for praying. If all goes well we will not put out another update until we know something definite.I am doing pretty well but there is a good bit of bleeding right now. Likely it will let up as I drink liquids. The doctor said that he removed the two tumors and they will send them to pathology for testing. He will get me a report sometime next week. He thinks that more may need to be done in the prostate but he wasn’t clear about just what. Likely we will wait until after the next CT Scan in January to make any decisions on our next steps of action.

Miranda Writes
We have been going through some things lately that makes us feel as though we are in a Christian film instead of in real life. For almost a week, we saw young Muslim men saved every day. Among them, was a young man named Nuru (noo-roo). A couple of days after he had visited Ty, he brought his Nigerian friend for Ty to share the gospel with him. We then learned that Nuru had taken a stand to no longer go to the Mosque. He said, “How can I serve two masters?” Well, Nuru’s family decided that if he would no longer go to the Mosque, he would be as though he were dead to them, and he would not be welcome at their house. Nuru came to our house late one night with nowhere to sleep, so we opened our house to him. He stayed at our house for two days and came to church with us, but then the family attached. Four brothers showed up at our house in the afternoon asking for Nuru. Seeing the four angry men, I took the children into our bedroom and locked the door. Nuru came to the door for one second and quietly went back inside. Hearing the back door open, I snuck out quietly to see him running up the side of the mountain as fast as he could. As the brothers kept demanding for Nuru, Ty came back inside to see what was keeping him. I said that he ran for his life. Going back outside to explain this to the brothers, they were extremely mad and threatening Ty. They said that we were hiding him inside of our house. God gave Ty wisdom, and a gentle answer, or I believe it would have gone very badly for us. Their threats were harsh; saying that this is; if we were to have Nuru in our house again, it would be very bad for Ty’s wife and children…

They demanded that Ty go to the Lamido’s with them (that’s like the villages mayor, if you would). So as I looked out of the bedroom window, I saw Ty walking away with them, not knowing where he was
going (that was a bad feeling!). As I watched out of the window for him, he came back about 20 minutes later, RUNNING into the yard (ohhow I shuddered). I ran to open the door for him and locked it behind him. He said, “Lock all of you in the bedroom. I’m going out the back door to call Tom and I will come around to the front. Open the front door for me when I knock.” Once I heard a knock on the front door, I opened it quickly to find that it was not Ty, but one of the mad brothers. I quickly slammed the door and locked it, having flashbacks of the robbery. I let Ty in again through the back door and went to the kids in the bedroom. As I watched out the window, I saw Ty give the brothers all of Nuru’s things, and they eventually left. When Ty came back in we locked the door and let the kids out of the bedroom.Ty explained what happened; they took him to the Lamido’s, let Ty say two words, and then they went off in Fulfulde. When they finished, the Lamido’s looked at Ty and said, “You have only been here a short time and look at how much trouble you have caused! You are not to have Nuru in your house. If he comes to you, just drive him. Also, you are not to be preaching Christianity in Sabga. If you continue to preach we will drive you from Sabga.” Ty was shocked, as that was not what he said when we first moved here. Ty said, “Is it better for me to obey God or you?” They said, “God (Allah).” Ty said, “Because my God tells me that if someone comes to me that does not have a place to sleep, or food to eat, I am to help him.” They said, “Well, you are not to help Nuru, you are to drive him.” Nuru came back that night after dark. Ty allowed him to sleep in our house again; was I scared? I was. Early the next morning, Ty prayed with him and sent him to his family. I was very scared for Nuru that he was going to get beat to a pulp, but God went before him. To make a long story shorter, the brothers eventually told him that if he would not repent, they would send him to prison with years of hard labour until he did repent. They then would send him to Yaounde to a Muslim school with high stone walls that he could not get out or somewhere North to learn Islam. In secret, his mother told him to pretend to go North, but run away. Even she knew how terrible those options were for her son. So he said he would go North. That night, after dark, Nuru knocked on our door. When we opened it, he handed us a long letter and ran away again into the darkness. As we read the note, he explained this all to us, and how he planned to hop off the bus that was taking him up North. So, the next afternoon, we received a phone call from Nuru, saying that it had been a success. Right away, we asked him not to tell us where he was, so that when his brothers asked, we would not feel that we had to lie. Ty gave him the phone number of a believer that he could call. God has now provided him a job, and we are helping him with some small finances until he can make it on his own. Please pray that God would provide him a place to rent very soon.

In all of this, I would like to say that God has taught me some things about trusting Him. At first, I was very scared. I thought it not wise to go against the orders of all of the Muslims around us. “After all, (my flesh thought) it would be better for Nuru to sleep outside than for him to put us all in danger.” While he was staying with us, I always made sure that the doors were locked, and the kids could not go outside. During the day, I could see his brothers and other men searching our yard for Nuru. I was convicted that I was not trusting the Lord, but I told Him that it was too hard of a situation! After all, it’s not every day that Muslim’s come and threaten your lives! (Funny how our flesh can reason). That night I woke up with a terrible anxious feeling that we are very foolish to not have an armed guard (like a lot of the other missionaries). I felt overwhelmed and terrified (looking back now, I can see that it was an attack from Satan). Then first thing the next morning, a Muslim girl, about my age, came to visit me. We talked for a little bit, but then she asked about the “Nuru situation.” She pretended not to know anything about it, hoping that in my explaining it all, I would give something away. Then she asked where he was now. I said that we sent him back to his family and that they had decided to send him up North. She said that the brothers had call just that morning to make sure he got there, and he hadn’t. Then she really let me have it; we should have never taken Nuru in; the brothers are now so mad that they are going to beat us and take us to the High Court and see that we get lots of trouble from the government, maybe even kicked out of Cameroon; Nuru is not old enough to make his own decisions, he is still a child (because in Cameroon you are not an adult until 20); all of the people of Sabga are going to cause trouble for us…I did not have much to say to all of this. When she started to make fun of Nuru, I told her that I needed to go and start teaching Abigail and Clement their school, and showed her the door. She awkwardly got up and left, I think feeling guilty about what she had just done.

Well, after she left I broke down. The weight of it all, and my not trusting the Lord, hit me. I cried and cried. I was so scared for my children and our well being. Ty asked me if I truly believed that my God is still the same God as in the Bible? It wasn’t that I didn’t believe that God was able to deliver us from wicked men, but I was scared of what God may allow. Ty reassured me with verses, turned on a sermon and then left for Bamenda. While he was gone, I told the Lord that I felt I could not trust and asked Him to speak to me through His word. I opened and read Acts 15. Verse 25 and 26 really hit me: “It seemed good unto us, being assembled with one accord, to send chosen men unto you with our beloved Barnabas and Paul, men that have hazarded their lives for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.” If they were willing to hazard their lives for their Saviour, why wasn’t I? I there decided to trust the Lord, even in this hard situation. Since then, I have had wonderful peace in the midst of my storm, and it doesn’t seem so hard.
In Christ,

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Thank you so much for your faithful prayers and support over the last two months. We are always encouraged to hear from those who say they have been praying for us, and of course, your financial giving for missions provides us with the various tools to get the Gospel out to the lost here in Thailand!

Over the last two months, we have been blessed to able to help in pulpit supply for Missionary Wayne Sehmish while he was preaching in the USA and Australia. Their ministry is about 1 1⁄2 hour’s drive from us, so we have been driving over there for the last 6 weeks. They have had a number of Filipino English teachers attending as well. Since their Thai is not that good, I preach in Thai and Maureen has been sitting behind them translating the message back into English.

In Phitsanulok, I have been passing out tracks in the neighborhoods surrounding the building we rented for future services. On one of my trips, I talked with a 50 year old, retired army captain named Jack, and he invited me to join him for his late breakfast. As we talked he let me know that he had gone to the Catholic mass, and the Jehovah’s Witness’ service and found both to be somewhat strange. I gave him a synopsis of the Creation-to-Christ and he said he was interested in further study. Please pray for his heart to be opened and for me to have wisdom in teaching clearly. He is mostly blind, so I cannot give him something to read between visits. We have several other contacts that we have met through various avenues and we are seeking to follow-up with them as well.

As for an update on our family, since moving we have come to realize that being the only “white” family in our city (to the best of our knowledge) is a lot like being a walking display case with people constantly wanting to touch the children and compare skin colors. As with most missionary kids in foreign cultures, once our kids get to know someone, they are much more at ease and will enjoy Thai company, but those initial meetings can involve too much pinching for them! ☺ We have been healthy except that Maureen has been having regular migraines. She is trying some different things to prevent them, and while it has not eliminated them, she is noticing improvements, praise the Lord!

Thank you for your prayers and support, we appreciate both very much. Please continue to pray for our health, fruitful tract distribution, the Lord’s working in the hearts of our current prospects, responses to our newspaper ads, and for a situation regarding some printed material we have in storage.

By God’s Grace and For His Glory,

Michael & Maureen Sullivant and Family

Thank you so much for your support. We would be unable to do what we do without your financial and prayer support.

We have had a wonderful start to the year of 2012. God has blessed us in so many ways. We would like to take some time in this letter to update you on our family.

Our oldest daughter Rebekah, who is now 8, is doing great. She is home schooled three days per week, and then she is able to go to a Christian school in our area 2 days per week. She loves both home school and the Christian school! She is also taking piano lessons and doing quite well in them.

Julia is our second daughter, and she is doing amazing! She has had special needs from birth that have presented many challenges to us as a family, but they have also deeply strengthened our faith in God. Julia is also home schooled three days per week, and then she attends a Christian school two days per week. She is still involved in physical therapy, occupational therapy, and she will be involved in speech therapy again soon. We just found out that she also needs glasses, and we are praying that this will solve some of her balance issues as well as some of her learning disabilities. We are praising the Lord that she has been seizure free for over a year.

Jacob, our son, is 18 months now, and acting like it. He is into everything, but he is a great joy to us.

Liz and I are doing well. We are excited for spring. We are continually praying that God will use us here in Maple for his glory.

Please continue to pray for our family and the ministry here in Maple. We appreciate your faithfulness to the Lord on our behalf. Thank you!

Dear Pastors & Supporters,

The last couple of months in Malta have been an exciting, educational & rewarding time for us. We were able to meet with a supporting church in Sicily, our neighboring island, over American Thanksgiving. It has been encouraging to have a church that is behind us so close to our new home.

Our first Christmas in Malta has been a lesson in our new culture as the Maltese have a great cultural and religious investment in the Christmas season. The Christmas season provided many opportunities to expand our list of contacts as we continue to look for and use every opportunity to build relationships and share the gospel. Over the Christmas season, I also attended the Catholic funeral of a friend’s father. This sad occasion rich in ritual and ceremony was lacking of any assurance of eternity. It left me thinking about the powerful truth that life is but a vapour, and because I have but one life to live for God, I must make it count.

The girls enjoyed their first Christmas outside of North America with many packages from family and friends. They loved opening and displaying each card we received from so many of our supporting churches. Thank you for including us in your mailing lists. It is always encouraging to hear from our supporting churches!

As exciting as our past months have been, we are looking forward to our next challenges. We have a goal of starting an English Bible study in the spring. This is the result of many conversations with our contacts, much prayer & a desire to organize our teaching opportunities. Pray that God will give us wisdom in how and when to announce these studies. I am and will be diligently preparing lessons to be used for these studies over the next few weeks. Also pray that new people along with our present contacts will overcome their fear and be overwhelmed with a curiosity for the Bible.

As always, we are moving forward and sometimes backward it seems in our Maltese language studies. Please keep this a matter of prayer. We are again so thankful for your love and faithful support.

Sincerely,

The Van De Kemps
