Sorry, I did not see this until today. I apologize for the delay in answering your question!

The answer to that is simple. I believe the quote originated in the southern US, with their history of racial tensions and inequities. The speaker is simply being sarcastic about the extreme shallowness of many people’s religious life. In other words, if you profess to believe, but can’t love like Christ, how much of Jesus do you really want? Just three dollars worth? Are you REALLY that cheap when He loved the lepers?

I apologize for it causing offense. I had not considered that it might have been offensive. And I want to assure you that Lakeside Baptist does not promote discrimination or racist tendencies. Racism is not Biblical.
