“Afraid? Of What?”
April 18, 2008
Afraid? Of what?
To feel the spirit’s glad release?
To pass from pain to perfect peace,
The strife and strain of life to cease?
Afraid? Of that?
Afraid? Of what?
Afraid to see the Saviour’s face,
To hear His welcome, and to trace,
The glory gleam from wounds of grace,
Afraid? Of that?
Afraid? Of what?
A flash – a crash – a pierced heart;
Brief darkness – Light – O Heaven’s art!
A wound of His a counterpart!
Afraid? Of that?
Afraid? Of what?
To enter into Heaven’s rest,
And yet to serve the Master blessed?
From service good to service best?
Afraid? Of that?
Afraid? Of what?
To do by death what life could not -
Baptize with blood a stony plot,
Till souls shall blossom from the spot?
Afraid? Of that?
This poem was written by E.H. Hamiliton,
after hearing of the death
of his missionary collegue Jack Vinson.
Vinson was martyred in 1931 and showed no fear of
death to his Chinese captors, telling them,
“Kill me, if you wish. I will go straight to God.”

Investing Time in Eternal Matters
April 18, 2008
Have you ever considered what your life might be like
without God? I was saved at a young age, but I am familiar enough with the practices, lifestyles, and heartaches of the unsaved to know that the redeemed life is infinitely better! I am certain that you and I would agree that salvation is wonderful, yet there is an imbalance many times between what we say and how we live. Let me give you an example.

Update on Oprah
April 17, 2008
A few weeks ago we posted a quick warning on the influence of Oprah. I would urge Christians to carefully consider the ungodly New Age path she is taking her viewers down, and to reject her influence in their lives. Turn off the TV, and crack open the Bible!
Jessup Update April 08
April 17, 2008
I am a bit late with this letter because we wanted to wait until after we finished working on a church plant in Reynoldsburg, Ohio. Reynoldsburg is a suburb of Columbus and the church was reproduced by Newark Baptist Temple in Heath. Several churches helped with the meetings and God blessed.
We averaged around 65 each evening with 21 visitors attending from the community. There were some in the services that were unsaved but no one trusted Christ during the meeting. The church has been holding services for several months now but this meeting helped establish the credibility of Pastor Jim Larger and demonstrated to the visitors the direction the church is going. Please pray with us as they try to reach the eastern suburbs of Columbus with the gospel. There are few churches in the Columbus area that are standing for the truth and this church is needed in the area. Read more
